HairWise operates with a hybrid approach to protect your privacy:
- Hair and scalp photos are stored locally in your device’s storage
- AI hair analysis requires internet connectivity to access Alibaba DashScope’s AI service
- Analysis results and health statistics are computed and stored locally
- Your data is only transmitted when you specifically request AI analysis
3.2 Data Storage
Your personal data is stored:
- Hair/Scalp Photos: In your device’s local storage (HairCapture directory)
- Analysis Results: In your device’s local Core Data storage
- User Hair Info: In your device’s local storage (gender, age, care goals, etc.)
- Check-in Records: In your device’s local storage
- App Settings: In your device’s local storage
4. AI Analysis and Privacy
4.1 DashScope (Qwen) AI Integration
The hair health analysis feature:
- Requires internet connectivity to access Alibaba DashScope’s AI service
- Temporarily transmits your hair/scalp images for analysis
- Uses Qwen VL models for accurate hair and scalp health assessment
- Does not permanently store your content on external servers
4.2 What AI Analyzes
The AI analysis:
- Processes only the hair/scalp images you choose to analyze
- Evaluates oiliness, dandruff, dryness, hair loss risk, split ends, and related metrics
- Provides personalized care recommendations based on your user hair info
- Does not create profiles or track patterns across users
- Cannot access data from other users
- Is performed through secure API calls to DashScope
5. Data Security
5.1 Device Security
Your data security depends on:
- Your device’s security settings (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
- Your device’s encryption features
- Your iOS version and security updates
- Your device backup practices
5.2 App Security
HairWise implements:
- Local data storage with Core Data
- Secure local storage practices for images
- Secure API communication with DashScope
- No permanent external data storage
6. Third-Party Services
HairWise integrates with Alibaba DashScope’s AI service for hair health analysis. This integration:
- Only occurs when you specifically request AI analysis
- Uses secure API communication
- Does not grant DashScope permanent access to your data
- Is necessary for providing the AI hair analysis feature
For in-app purchases, HairWise uses Apple’s StoreKit. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple; we do not collect or store any payment information.
7. Children’s Privacy
HairWise is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Data Retention
8.1 Local Data
Your data remains on your device:
- Until you manually delete it
- Until you uninstall the App
- Until your device is reset or replaced
