1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the HairWise application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
HairWise is a hair health analysis application for iOS devices that allows users to:
- Capture and store multi-angle hair and scalp photos
- Receive AI-powered hair and scalp health analysis
- View statistical analysis of hair health metrics (oiliness, dandruff, dryness, hair loss risk, etc.)
- Set up check-in reminders and track daily hair care routines
- Get personalized care recommendations based on user hair info
- Analyze hair care product ingredients (where available)
3. User Responsibilities
3.1 Appropriate Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your device and App access
- Ensuring all content you create (photos, user info) is appropriate and non-offensive
- Not attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the App
- Using the App only for personal hair health monitoring
3.2 Content Ownership
You retain full ownership of all hair photos and content you create using the App. HairWise does not claim any ownership rights to your personal content.
4. Privacy and Data
4.1 Local Processing
All hair photos, user hair info, and analysis results are stored locally on your device. HairWise does not upload, store, or permanently retain your personal data on external servers.
4.2 Data Security
Your personal data remains secure on your device. We recommend:
- Using device security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
- Regularly backing up your device
- Keeping your iOS version updated
5. AI Analysis Features
5.1 Hair Health Analysis
The App provides AI-powered hair and scalp analysis through Alibaba DashScope’s AI service. This analysis:
- Requires internet connectivity to access DashScope’s AI interface
- Processes your hair/scalp images through secure API calls
- Provides health insights across multiple dimensions (oiliness, dandruff, dryness, hair loss, split ends)
- Uses Qwen VL models for accurate visual analysis
- May incorporate your user hair info for personalized recommendations
5.2 Data Processing for AI Analysis
When you request hair analysis:
- Your hair/scalp images are temporarily transmitted to DashScope’s secure servers
- Analysis is performed using DashScope’s AI models
- Results are returned to your device and stored locally
- No permanent storage of your content occurs on external servers
5.3 Accuracy Disclaimer
While we strive for accurate hair health analysis through advanced AI, interpretations may not always be precise. Results should be used as a general guide for self-care and are not a substitute for professional medical or dermatological advice.
6. Subscription and In-App Purchases
6.1 Purchases
HairWise may offer subscription or in-app purchase options. All purchases are processed through Apple’s StoreKit. Payment terms are governed by Apple’s applicable policies.
6.2 Refunds
Refund requests for subscriptions or in-app purchases should be directed to Apple through your Apple ID account or Apple Support.
7. App Updates and Maintenance
7.1 Automatic Updates
The App may automatically update to provide new features, security improvements, and bug fixes.
7.2 Service Availability
We strive to maintain App functionality but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service due to:
- Device compatibility issues
- iOS system updates
- Technical maintenance requirements
- Third-party AI service availability (DashScope)
8. Limitation of Liability
HairWise and its developers shall not be liable for:
- Any loss of data or content
- Interruption of service
- Damages arising from App use
- Health-related decisions made based on AI analysis results
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
The App is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Always consult qualified healthcare professionals for hair or scalp health concerns.
9. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. These Terms remain in effect while you use the App and for any post-termination obligations.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
