1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Easebite (“we,” “our,” or “us”) handles information when you use our meal companion application for iOS and Android (“App”). Easebite helps you photograph a meal, see one small adjustment that may be easier on your stomach, note how you felt afterward, and keep an optional eating rhythm while you chew.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes what stays on your device, what is sent to third-party services, and what we do not collect on our own servers.

Easebite is not a medical device. See our Terms of Use for the limits of meal suggestions, allergy notes, and the eating rhythm.

2. Our Privacy Principles

Easebite is built with a local-first, no-backend approach:

  • No proprietary servers: We do not operate backend servers to store or aggregate your meals, photos, symptoms, or profile.
  • No user accounts: We do not require registration, login, or a centralized user profile.
  • Your meal data stays on your device: Photos, food notes, after-meal feelings, allergies, and chew counts are stored locally unless you explicitly use a feature that needs the internet.
  • User-initiated meal analysis only: A meal photo is sent for recognition only when you choose to analyze that meal.
  • Chewing stays on the device: The eating-rhythm camera counts chews on your phone. Face frames are not uploaded.
  • No location tracking: Easebite does not request your location.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect on Our Servers

Because Easebite has no backend for your content, we do not:

  • Operate servers that store your meal photos, meal records, symptom answers, or allergy list
  • Maintain a cloud backup or sync service for your meals
  • Require your name, email address, phone number, or other account identifiers (unless you voluntarily contact support)
  • Collect or store payment card or banking information (purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google)
  • Collect your precise location
  • Record or upload microphone audio (the App does not request microphone access)
  • Upload camera frames or face geometry from the eating-rhythm screen
  • Use face data to identify who you are

4. Information Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device:

  • Profile: The stomach focus you choose (such as reflux, bloating, both, or none), foods you say tend to bother you, foods you say are usually fine, food allergies you enter, and an optional bedtime
  • Meal records: The time of an analysis, recognized food names, the small adjustment shown for that meal, an optional note you type, and the local path of the meal photo
  • After-meal feelings: Your answers about reflux, bloating, stomach pain, nausea, burning in the chest, and feeling full after eating a little, including how strong a “yes” felt
  • Discomfort summary: A short paragraph derived from meals you have already rated, kept so a later photo can take that pattern into account
  • Chew counts: How many chews were kept during an eating-rhythm sitting, and when that sitting started. These counts are not written into the meal record and are not turned into a health score
  • App settings: Notification preference, onboarding progress, and whether you have seen the in-app privacy note
  • Subscription entitlement cache: A local record of your premium status (no payment details)

This data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the App, or reset your device.

5. Meal Photos and AI Analysis

5.1 Local Photo Storage

Meal photos you capture or choose from your library are stored locally on your device. Easebite does not upload those photos to our own servers.

5.2 When a Photo Is Sent

A photo is transmitted only when you choose to analyze that meal. The photo is sent over a secure connection to Alibaba DashScope (vision models) so the App can name visible foods and suggest one small adjustment.

Along with that photo, the request may include:

  • The symptom focus you selected, foods you listed for that symptom, and allergies you entered
  • The discomfort summary already saved on your phone, when one exists
  • The local time of the meal
  • An optional note you typed about the meal
  • Your app language, so names and sentences come back in that language

Your bedtime, and the raw list of past meals, are not attached to this photo request. Past meals affect the request only through the saved discomfort summary described in Section 6.

The App does not give DashScope ongoing access to your photo library. You choose each photo.

Analysis results are returned to your device and stored locally. Retention of data processed by DashScope is governed by Alibaba Cloud’s policies.

5.3 What the Analysis Is For

The model looks at the meal you submitted and the stomach notes included with that request. It suggests a small, practical adjustment. It does not diagnose a condition, and an allergy note is not a statement that the rest of the meal is safe. A photo may not show every ingredient.

6. After-Meal Feelings

Feelings you record stay on your device.

If you have rated more than one meal and the same food appears in two of those rated meals, a text-only request may be sent to DashScope to mark which foods lined up with a symptom. That request includes food names, the local time of those meals, and whether each symptom was yes or no. It does not include the meal photo.

If no food repeats across rated meals, that comparison stays on your device and is not sent for this text analysis.

The resulting summary is saved locally and may be included the next time you analyze a photo, as described in Section 5.2.

7. Eating Rhythm and the Camera

The eating-rhythm screen uses the camera and an on-device face mesh to notice chewing motion and light one step of the ring per chew.

  • Processing runs on your device
  • Camera frames and face landmarks are not uploaded and are not saved as photos
  • The feature does not identify you and is not used for advertising
  • Only a chew count and the time of that sitting are kept locally
  • The rhythm is a companion while you eat. It is not a chewing standard and does not produce a symptom conclusion

8. Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not operate a push server for them.

If you leave notifications on, the App may schedule:

  • A reminder after a meal, asking you to note how you felt
  • After two days without a meal analysis, a daily reminder around meal times learned from the times of your past analyses

Those times stay on your device. Notification text does not include your food names, symptoms, or allergies.

9. Third-Party SDKs and Services

Easebite integrates third-party services. These are not Easebite-owned servers. They may process certain data according to their own privacy policies:

Service Purpose Data Involved
Alibaba DashScope Meal recognition and a small adjustment; text comparison when one food repeats across rated meals The meal photo you submit, the stomach notes listed in Section 5.2, and the text described in Section 6
Firebase Analytics Product analytics App events and device or app identifiers. Meal photos, symptom answers, and allergy lists are not sent
Firebase Crashlytics Crash and error reporting Crash logs and device state. Meal content is not attached
Google AdMob Rewarded ads that free users may watch before a meal analysis Advertising identifiers and ad interaction data
Apple App Store / Google Play Subscriptions and purchases Purchase receipts, handled by Apple or Google

Links to third-party privacy policies:

10. Advertising

Free users may be asked to watch a rewarded video ad, served by Google AdMob, before a meal analysis. Subscribers continue without that step. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers and interaction data to serve and measure ads, in accordance with Google’s policies.

On iOS, Easebite may participate in Apple’s SKAdNetwork for ad attribution. You can limit ad tracking in your device settings.

11. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We initialize Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used, such as sessions and feature usage, and Firebase Crashlytics to collect fatal crashes so we can fix stability issues. Crash reports may include device model, OS version, and stack traces.

These reports are processed by Google Firebase, not stored on Easebite servers. Meal photos, the foods you listed, symptom answers, and allergies are not sent to Firebase. You can learn more at Firebase Privacy.

12. Permissions

The App may request the following permissions:

Permission Why We Ask
Camera Photograph a meal, and count chews on the eating-rhythm screen
Photo Library Choose an existing meal photo
Notifications Local reminders to note how a meal felt, and to come back around your usual meal times
Internet Send a meal you chose to analyze, contact ad and analytics services, and complete a store purchase

Easebite does not request location or microphone access. On Android, notification and boot-completed access are used only to deliver and restore the local reminders above.

13. Health Information

Profile choices, allergy names, and after-meal feelings are information about your body. They are stored on your device and are shared only as described in Sections 5 and 6, when you analyze a meal or when a repeated food is compared.

We do not use this information to advertise to you, and we do not sell it.

14. Children’s Privacy

Easebite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us at vomiv523@gmail.com.

15. Data Retention

15.1 Local Data

Your meals, photos, feelings, and profile remain on your device until you:

  • Delete a meal inside the App
  • Uninstall the App
  • Reset or replace your device

15.2 Third-Party Processing

  • DashScope: Processes the photo or text you submit for that request. Retention is subject to Alibaba Cloud’s policies.
  • Firebase and AdMob: Retain analytics, crash, and ad data under Google’s policies.

We do not keep long-term copies of your meals on Easebite servers.

16. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your region, you may have rights regarding your personal information. Because Easebite stores most data locally:

  • Access and deletion: You can review and delete meals in the App, change your profile, or remove App data by uninstalling.
  • Meal analysis: A photo is sent only when you choose to analyze that meal.
  • Feelings: You can skip a feeling card. The text comparison in Section 6 runs only after you have saved feelings and one food repeats.
  • Notifications: You can turn reminders off in Settings.
  • Ads and analytics: You can limit ad tracking through your device settings.
  • Purchases: Manage or cancel a subscription in the App Store or Google Play.
  • Contact us: For privacy requests, email vomiv523@gmail.com.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA, including access, correction, deletion, and the right to appeal a denial. Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

17. International Data Transfers

When you analyze a meal, or when a repeated food is compared, that request may be processed by DashScope in mainland China, Singapore, or the United States. Firebase and AdMob are operated by Google and may process data outside your country. We use HTTPS for these requests.

18. Security

Easebite uses:

  • Local storage for meals, photos, feelings, and chew counts
  • HTTPS for requests to third-party services
  • Device secure storage for credentials the App needs to call DashScope

Your data also depends on your device: a passcode or biometrics, current system updates, and how you back the device up.

19. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The new version will be posted on this page with a new date. If you keep using the App after the update is posted, the updated policy applies to that use.
